As we close the books on our latest fiscal year, we’re taking a step back to look at the range of projects we’ve been honored to support. From a long-shuttered 1930s theater now restored as a live performance venue, to historic mill complexes returning to use housing and commercial space, these projects highlight the transformational impact of historic rehabilitation.
Tgether, these investments reflect the breadth of NTCIC’s work today, preserving significant buildings while creating places where people can live, learn, gather, create, and connect, with clean energy helping shape what comes next.
None of this happens without the dedication of our partners, investors, and the communities behind each project. We’re grateful for your continued support and look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
Project Highlight
Plaza Theatre
Palm Springs Gem Shines Again
The highly anticipated restoration and rehabilitation of Palm Springs’ iconic Plaza Theatre.
The Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs, a 1936 Spanish Colonial Revival landmark with deep Hollywood roots, is undergoing a major restoration to return it to its former prominence as a cultural hub. Originally home to world premieres, charity events, radio broadcasts, and performances by icons like Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, and Bing Crosby, the theatre has long been a centerpiece of Palm Springs’ artistic identity.
The $39.8 million rehabilitation transformed the building into a modern 702‑seat live performance venue while preserving its historic atmospheric architecture and Hollywood-era character. Renovations include upgraded seating, accessibility improvements, new theatrical equipment, reconfigured stage areas, modernized dressing rooms, and seismic strengthening.
NTCIC supported the project through an equity investment in the $6.4 million federal Historic Tax Credits, serving as the HTC Investment sourcer, underwriter, closer, and asset manager
