About Lauri M. Michel

Lauri Michel was elected to the NTCIC Board in 2008.  As Chief Risk Officer of Calvert Impact, Ms. Michel manages credit and enterprise risk, as well as risk management systems and infrastructure.  Previous roles at Calvert have included VP Risk Management and Special Projects, managing credit risk, loan administration, and IT, as well as Vice President of Underwriting, where she managed due diligence, underwriting, and monitoring support for Calvert’s loan portfolio. Before joining Calvert, Ms. Michel was Vice President at KEMA Advisors, a North Carolina consulting firm. She has also served as Vice President, Community Revitalization for the National Trust for Historic Preservation and as President of NT CDFI, Inc., the National Trust’s non-profit community development financial institution.

Ms. Michel’s professional background includes architecture, community development, and finance.  She has over fifteen years of experience in commercial real estate finance and managed New York City’s affordable housing development and finance programs as Deputy Commissioner for Development for the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development. In addition to her service as Board Chair, Ms. Michel served as a member of NTCIC’s Investment, Governance, Audit & Finance, and Subsidiary Oversight Committees. She has also served as a Board member of the Historic Hillsborough (NC) Commission and the Hillsborough NC Tourism Board.

Ms. Michel holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a M. Arch. from the University of California, Berkeley.
