NTCIC’s Face Book for January New Markets Tax Credit Conference

Novogradac & Company LLP is scheduled to host their annual New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) conference in San Diego, CA from January 24-25 for which NTCIC is a sponsor. The conference will bring NMTC investors, developers, and advocates together to network and discuss ways to support NMTC investments at the local, regional, and national levels, as well as legislative issues facing the industry.

Over the course of three days, NTCIC will be engaged in multiple conference sessions and activities. Conference attendees are invited to meet NTCIC team members:

President of NTCIC NMTC InvestmentsMerrill Hoopengardner on Thursday January 24th will be participating as a speaker for the Washington Report panel where she will be discussing what might be next for an extension of the new markets tax credit or other community development initiatives during our new session of Congress. The interactive discussion will revolve around the updates and opportunities the community development industry may face in the coming years with the change in congressional leadership. Merrill will contribute insight on how NTCIC has continued to advocate for NMTC credit permanency.

Merrill will also be attending the Women in Tax Credits networking breakfast on Thursday, January 24th. As President of NTCIC, Merrill directs fundraising and acquisitions opportunities, develops and implements overall strategy and new lines of business for the company and coordinates governing board/staff relations.

Managing Director for NMTC Investments Kandi JacksonKandi Jackson at the Women in Tax Credits networking breakfast on Thursday, January 24th. She will also be at NTCIC’s sponsor booth and throughout the conference. As Managing Director, Kandi oversees the acquisitions and Project management team of NTCIC with a focus on Historic Tax Credit (HTC) and NMTC investments. Kandi’s team is primarily responsible for finding, underwriting, closing, and initiating the first equity and loan disbursements to a project. She also originates and manages NTCIC’s upper-tier investor relationships. Kandi has more than 20 years of senior level experience in real estate development and finance.

Project Manager for NMTC Investments Christina SmithChristina Smith As Project Manager, Christina performs a variety of acquisition activities including underwriting and managing the closing process for debt and equity investments involving federal and state HTCs and NMTCs for all types of asset classes throughout the US. Before joining NTCIC in 2006, Christina worked for a former leading warehouse lender where she managed account portfolios totaling over $1 billion in bank credit lines. She also has three years of experience as a commercial real estate paralegal for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

Acquisitions Manager for NMTC Investments Matthew PrickettMatthew Prickett Based in St. Louis, Matt is responsible for identifying, structuring and preliminarily underwriting prospective federal/state HTC and NMTC investments. Matt has over 15 years of experience in community development and real estate finance. Prior to coming to NTCIC, Matt played an active role on the HTCC board where he was the primary board member to spearhead a new membership drive.

Acquisitions Manager for NMTC Investments Michael DubanskyMichael Dubansky Based in Ohio, Michael is the first point of contact for prospective deals. He is responsible for origination, underwriting, negotiating, and closing NTCIC’s federal/state Historic Tax Credit (HTC) and NMTC investments. Before rejoining the company in 2010, Michael worked for NTCIC for 2 years as an acquisitions analyst.

Acquisitions Manager for NMTC Investments Amanda BloombergAmanda Bloomberg is responsible for identifying, structuring and preliminary underwriting for prospective federal/state HTC and NMTC investments. Amanda has over nine years of experience originating, structuring and closing Low Income Housing Tax Credit and HTC transactions. She will be attending the Women in Tax Credits networking breakfast on Thursday January, 24th.
