Real Estate Investment Analyst

Job Summary:

National Trust Community Investment Corporation (NTCIC), an affiliate of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is among the most active tax credit syndicators in America. The organization supports the country’s architectural heritage, community development, and renewable energy initiatives through impactful federal and state tax credit investment and syndication services.

The Real Estate Investment Analyst will perform various activities related to real estate investments for NTCIC, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The position assists and supports the acquisitions and project management teams with the origination, underwriting, and closing of prospective historic tax credit and new markets tax credit investments. These investments may include debt and equity investments in multifamily residential, commercial, and mixed-use historic rehabilitation projects throughout the United States involving historic and/or new markets tax credits.

Duties:
  • Work closely with Managing Director, Acquisition Managers, and Project Managers to gain understanding of department goals and objectives and contribute to team work to achieve them
  • Conduct market research using third-party resources (market study, appraisal, CoStar)
  • Prepare initial investment summaries and project specific financial models to evaluate investment returns
  • Assist with the collection and review of due diligence materials consistent with underwriting requirements, including insurance certificates, environmental reports, and GC and architect qualification statements
  • Assist with the collection of guarantor financial information and prepare detailed guarantor analyses
  • Assist with investor, customer, and project tracking utilizing Salesforce, including generating reports and ensuring that projects are being tracked accurately
  • Assist with preparing underwriting memorandums for presentation to internal management, investors, and NTCIC’s Board of Director’s Investment Committee
  • Assist with tracking multiple investor requirements and developing and/or implementing new systems for investor management
  • Perform duties on multiple transactions at any given time with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Provide solutions-oriented focus with the ability to take initiative and think independently
  • Actively engage in team-building activities and build solid relationships with NTCIC staff
  • Assist with special acquisitions projects, as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in real estate or finance (or equivalent work experience) and either a master’s degree in business, finance or real estate (or equivalent) or more than 3 years of experience
  • At least 3 years of real estate investment analysis/underwriting experience
  • Strong financial analysis and spreadsheet (Excel) skills required. Examples to be provided upon request
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required. Writing samples to be provided upon request
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in a team setting
  • Occasional travel required and ability to manage multiple projects with various deadlines

Pay & Benefits

Hiring Range:  $75,000 – $90,000 per year commensurate with experience.

This is a full-time, exempt-level position, eligible for full benefits, including health, dental, life insurance, retirement benefits, and 3+ weeks of vacation, plus sick time and holidays.
